A large family garden, whose only interest was a lovely Silver Birch tree. The client wanted a pond, with a deck overhanging to enjoy in the evenings. Key on the planting wish list was textural foliage interest.
The New Design
The pond with waterfall and part of the deck overhanging now provides a tranquil place to sit in the evening sun. The remainder of the garden was planted using shrubs to screen the fencing over time, but predominantly with plenty of dramatic perennial foliage, providing textural interest and of course colour changes with the seasons. Ample space remained for the trampoline towards the back of the garden, but which is now barely visible from the key seating areas. See More Larger Gardens
Dramatic foliage and acid spires of Ligularia The Rocket.
The existing patio was extended and surrounded by perennials.
Touches of dark foliage enliven all the greens.
A relaxing spot on the deck next to the pond.
