The Brief
A new plot, with the usual patio of a dozen slabs provided by builders, in the wrong place. A bigger patio was requested, screening from neighbouring windows and of course some inspiration to make the plot more interesting.

The New Design
The highest point of the garden was next to the house, which if the patio had been extended where the builders has put it, would have meant being overlooked by neighbouring windows. It was decided therefore to step down to the new patio area from a pathway around the house. A group of 3 Betula Utilis Jacquemontii were planted in one corner created a small “Woodland” with a simple bark path running through and separated with a simple post and rail fence. A separate smaller patio area with a trellis screen sub divides it from the main view of the garden. See More Back Gardens
